Hello reader reader
We would like to take a moment to give you an update on your trip to Costa Rica. We had to make a couple of changes (all for the best) to the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances. One of the lodges called us to cancel our reservations due to hotel renovations which they were unaware of at the time. But we've got you covered with an even better lodge. In addition, we are going back to one of our first lodges which now offers great bird photography opportunities.

Arenal Oasis is a family owned lodge embedded in a patch of forest on the foothills of the Arenal Volcano. They now have a beautiful setup for shooting birds and for years we have come to this place to photograph frogs in their magnificent frog ponds. But the highlight of these lodging changes is Punta Leona Resort. The resort is recognized as one of the most environmentally conscious resorts in Costa Rica. Several programs are in place including a macaw and sea turtle breeding program along with an amazing trail system where wildlife abounds and their own butterfly enclosure. Besides they have all the amenities you will expect from a high-end resort in Costa Rica. Watch their macaw nest cams or their beach cam.

Covid Travel Update

As of now it appears we won't need to get a Health Pass to enter the country, nor you will be required to get tested. But we will be required to have proof of vaccination with us at all times.

On your return flight to the U.S., you will be required to have a negative antigen test in order to get on your flight. We have arrange for that test to be done the day before departure.

Flight & Logistics

By now most of you have purchased your flight tickets. Our request was for everybody to arrive to San Jose (SJO) before 2 pm. as we noticed many of the flights that normally arrived at noon are not arriving until after 1:00 pm. For this reason, we suggest you have lunch before your depart the U.S. just in case we are pressed on time. After your arrival, we must cross the Continental Divide to reach the Caribbean side and the earlier the better.

Note: We need to know you flight information, so please forward that information to us as soon-as-possible.
