Dear reader reader

It’s my pleasure to share that we are in the final stages of preparation for our Kenya 2026 Photo Expedition. At the moment, we are reviewing flight availability and wrapping up a few remaining arrangements.

For those flying out of Florida, the best current fares appear to be departing from Miami (MIA) with Emirates Airlines. Please note that our contract with the local operator begins on July 14 and concludes on July 27.

When booking your flights, be sure to allow adequate travel time. This means you should depart the U.S. no later than July 13, which will place you in Nairobi on the evening of July 14. On the return, some participants may depart late on July 27 and arrive back in the U.S. on July 28.

If you have any questions regarding flights, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Also keep in mind that depending on the airline and routing, some itineraries may require more than one day of travel to reach Kenya.

You should also get familiarized with the process and requirements for your Kenyan Visa. The Visa can be obtained at https://evisa.go.ke/ . You require a passport type photos in jpg format with the following dimensions 500x500 pixels. Your passport must be valid for 6 months after your arrival date. Be aware that the Visa can only be requested within 90 days prior to our arrival.

In this email you will find a link to a document with photo tips for your upcoming photo safari as well as links to other resources you may want to review.
Some of you have asked for suggestions on what equipment to bring, so I made a list of suggested gear for this trip. Please feel free to email or call me with any questions you may have.

Photo Gear Suggestions

  • DSLR, mirrorless or compact camera
  • Tele/Zoom up to 600mm range
  • Shorter zoom (70-300 or 70-200mm)

  • Walkaround lens (18-135mm)
  • Plenty of memory cards and a backup device (laptop or tablet with external hardrive or similar device)
  • Batteries and chargers
  • Small traveling tripod (especially if you like shooting videos or the night sky)
  • Flash (there are opportunities to shoot birds and insects around the lodges)
