Full Day Bird Photography Workshop- January 7, 2006
(Free to all Field Workshops participants of the Space Coast Birdign Festiva 2005l)

This workshop is free to all those who participated in the Space Coast Birding Festival workshops this past November. Due to weather conditions during the Festival, we were forced to cancel at least one of our Field Workshops. We have agreed with all participants to reschedule at a later time. Well, the time is perfect now, and the location we have selected is a prime site for some of the most beautiful bird species in Florida.

Join us on a full-day workshop where I'll discuss some of the techniques I use on my bird photography. Some of these techniques include: aperture and exposure settings, evaluating the light, exposure compensations, flash usage, composition and how to approach your subjects. As usual, I'll cover a lot of information on our subject's behaviors and some natural history of the location.

Subjects to be photographed that day include:

White Pelicans
Anhingas
Limpkins
Ring-necked Ducks
Mallard Ducks
Purple Gallinules
Moorhen
American Coots
Great Blue Herons
Tri-colored Herons
Little Blue Herons
White Egrets
Snowy Egrets
White Ibis
RW Blackbirds

and possibly
Wood Ducks

A lens in the range of 300mm or longer is recommended for this workshop.

We'll be meeting at Lake Morton in downtown Lakeland and then we'll visit some of the premier birding sites in Polk County. We want to meet at around 8:00 a.m. to take advantage of the early light and the feeding time of most water birds. Around 11:00 a.m., we'll take a break for lunch, review some of the images, and discuss the afternoon shoot. Then, by 2:00pm, we will go to another location for more instruction and great chances to capture beautiful images with the afternoon light. Please make sure you confirm your participation to this event.
